Open your deck's review screen. Spaced repetition shows weaker words more often and skips ones you clearly know, so each session targets what needs work.
If no card is due, add five new words now. For example, for reschedule, think The meeting ran over, so I had to reschedule, then flip and check the meaning.
Self-check: count cards marked Again. Honest ratings, not generous ones, feed the scheduler. If fewer than half are recalled tomorrow, cut the five new words to three.
This loop assumes you already opened your deck and rated each card honestly, as described above. The steps take you from the end of one session to the start of the next.
Finish today's due cards in one sitting, usually 10 to 15 minutes for a deck of 20 to 30 reviews, and rate each card honestly so the scheduler sees your real memory strength.
Say each recalled word aloud in one short sentence you build yourself, for example The meeting ran over, so I had to reschedule, before you flip the card and check the meaning.
Add exactly five new words when reviews run out, pulling them from the frequency-first and goal-matched lists below rather than at random.
Tag each new card with its source, such as work email or podcast, so you can see later whether words from one context are sticking better than others.
Close the session and note how many cards you marked Again. The scheduler is designed to bring poorly retained material back sooner, so those words return for more practice before the ones you knew easily. If your app does not show Again cards first, search the tag or grade filter to find them yourself at the start of tomorrow's session.
